The New Naira Notes: What you need to know
President Muhammadu Buhari has unveiled the redesigned Naira notes which will replace the old ones in January 2023.
The unveiling ceremony was done at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in the presence of many dignitaries including The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.

Here is what we know about the new naira notes:
1.The new notes include the N200, N500 and N1,000 naira notes.
2. The new Naira notes have been fortified with security features which make them difficult to counterfeit.
3. The new N1,000 note is blue in colour, while the new N500 comes in green colour, and the N200 has the red colour.
4. The new naira notes are locally printed in Nigeria by the Security Printing and Minting Plc.
5. The newly designed notes retained their original photographs of past leaders who distinguished themselves on the national political and socio economic landscape.
6. Going forward, the CBN will redesign the naira notes after five or eight years.
Following the unveiling of the new notes, the CBN will intensify the monitoring process on cash withdrawals and place restrictions on the volume of cash that people can withdraw over the counter.
The CBN Governor assured Nigerians that the activities of the CBN are geared towards making Nigeria a cashless economy indeed.
