Interview with the CEO, Amala mobbys

Why did you decide to be an entrepreneur?
While growing up and watching my mother combining business with motherhood actually encouraged me to delve into entrepreneurship. My mother is a successful businesswoman who combined trading and motherhood without allowing one aspect to suffer. So watching her doing this inspired me to be an entrepreneur.
What inspired the idea of the “AmalaMobbys” brand and when did you start your initiative?
The brand “amalamobbys” was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically in July 2019. Before this, I already floated 2 businesses, the first was Saterlitehairs which was a saloon and the second was Mobbys Glam Couture Ltd. So during COVID-19 lockdown, I consulted my Husband and shared the vision of going into the food business and he supported the vision, so here we are today!
What motivates you and what are the principles that guide your business?
The highest motivating factor is the support I get and I’m still getting from my husband. Considering the fact that some men might not allow their women to work due to various reasons. My husband gave me the needed encouragement to float my business. I couldn’t have asked for a better husband. Furthermore, one of the principles that guide my business is the fact that I put my customers first. I discover their needs and I look for a way to meet such needs, I get feedback from the customers and I work on it. Another principle that guides my business is the need to provide quality and affordable meals in a classy environment to individuals regardless of their stratum of social stratification.

In your industry, what makes you unique?
What makes my business unique is the ability to source my raw materials locally, our products are fresh and safe for consumption. Like our Palm oil, it is been sourced from Ondo state, which is my home state.
What has been your greatest entrepreneurial success?
My greatest success as an entrepreneur is the fact that I am able to put smiles on people’s faces. A lot of people lost their jobs during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and being a business person, I was able to take some people out of unemployment. TO me, this is a huge success. Also, I count it a success when I receive positive reviews about my food from customers in Nigeria and beyond.
What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?
My favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur is the fact that I now have ample time for myself and my family compared to when I was a Banker because my family is so dear to me.
What is the most challenging of being an entrepreneur?
Being an entrepreneur in this country is really challenging. Factors like government policies, unpatriotic staff, inflation rate, unstable electricity, etc are some of the issues that have made being an entrepreneur a challenge.
