McDonald’s has named Nigerian-born business strategist Ugwechi A. Amadi as its new Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, placing her at the centre of the company’s long-term growth and transformation agenda.

Before joining McDonald’s, Amadi served as Executive Vice President and Head of Strategy and Performance at LIV Golf, where she worked alongside the organisation’s chief executive on enterprise strategy, mergers and acquisitions, business development and corporate performance.
She also spent more than four years at Nike, holding several senior leadership positions, including Vice President and Head of Global Operations Strategy and Head of Enterprise Strategy. During her time there, she led initiatives focused on digital transformation, supply chain optimisation, sustainability, technology strategy and long-term business growth.
Earlier in her career, she spent six years at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), advising multinational organisations across the consumer goods, retail, hospitality and apparel sectors on corporate strategy, innovation and organisational transformation.

An Academic Journey That Matches Her Executive Experience
Beyond her corporate achievements, Amadi has built an exceptional academic profile.
She earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Brain and Cognitive Sciences and Literature, alongside a minor in Biology, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She later completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.
Outside the boardroom, she has also contributed to leadership development through governance roles, including serving on the Board of the Association of American Rhodes Scholars and the Editorial Advisory Board of Alpha Phi International Fraternity.
