Cameroon goalkeeper Michaely Bihina has been named the winner of the Golden Glove award at the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 after playing a crucial role in the Indomitable Lionesses’ historic title triumph.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper was one of the standout performers of the tournament, delivering a series of composed and decisive displays as Cameroon secured their first-ever WAFCON title.

Bihina Shines Against Nigeria

Bihina produced one of her finest performances in Cameroon’s quarter-final clash with defending champions Nigeria.

The goalkeeper made nine saves as the Indomitable Lionesses secured a narrow 1-0 victory over the record 10-time champions. Her performance earned her the TotalEnergies Woman of the Match award and helped Cameroon progress to the semi-finals with a clean sheet.

The result also ended Nigeria’s title defence and secured Cameroon’s place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Bihina was called upon again in the semi-final against hosts Morocco, where she continued her outstanding form.

Three Penalty Saves Send Cameroon to Final

After a goalless 120 minutes against Morocco, the semi-final was decided by a penalty shoot-out.

Bihina stepped up when her team needed her most, saving three Moroccan penalties as Cameroon won the shoot-out 3-1. Her performance made her the first Cameroon goalkeeper to save three penalties in a WAFCON shoot-out.

Across the quarter-final and semi-final, Bihina made 12 saves without conceding a goal. She also collected the Woman of the Match award in both matches, underlining her influence during Cameroon’s decisive knockout victories.

Bihina completed her tournament with another clean sheet in the final, where Cameroon defeated Malawi 3-0 to claim their maiden WAFCON crown.

Her performances provided a strong foundation for Cameroon’s defensive organisation throughout the competition and established her as one of African women’s football’s emerging goalkeeping stars.

The Golden Glove caps a remarkable period for Bihina, who joined Portuguese giants Benfica in February 2026 after impressing in Portugal with Racing Power.

At just 22, the goalkeeper now has a continental title and an individual WAFCON award to her name, marking her emergence on one of African football’s biggest stages.
