In preparation for the 34th Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, Nigeria will play a friendly match against Guinea in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates by 2:30 pm today.
The 2024 AFCON will be held from January 13th to February 11th in Ivory Coast.
Nigeria’s Eagles are in Group A of the 24-country, four-week finals, with Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau, Africa’s other two Guinean nations, and the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire.
The friendly match will be the only warm-up game for the Eagles, who were initially billed to play Burkina Faso and Cape Verde before both games were called off.
The friendly will also wrap up Nigeria’s training camp in Dubai as the Eagles are billed to return to Nigeria on Tuesday, January 9, before their departure to Ivory Coast from Lagos on Wednesday, January 10.
Their first game will be against Equatorial Guinea on January 14 at the Ebimpe Olympic Stadium, before facing Ivory Coast on January 18. Their last group game will be against Guinea Bissau on January 22.
Having previously won the AFCON in 1980, 1994 and 2013, the Nigerian team hopes to win a fourth title in Ivory Coast.
