Uganda has officially entered a new chapter in its pageant history after crowning Mitchelle Daka as the country’s first-ever Miss Universe Uganda. The historic win means Daka will become the East African nation’s first representative at the 75th Miss Universe competition, scheduled to take place in Puerto Rico this November.
The 29-year-old international fashion model, entrepreneur and mental health advocate emerged winner at the inaugural Miss Universe Uganda pageant held at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, defeating a competitive field of contestants to secure the coveted crown.
Her victory not only marks a personal milestone but also signals Uganda’s official debut on one of the world’s biggest beauty pageant stages.
A Crown Backed by Purpose
Representing Budaka District, Daka impressed judges throughout the competition with standout performances in the swimwear, evening gown and final question-and-answer segments.
Her victory came with a cash prize of 24 million Ugandan shillings, a brand-new vehicle and the opportunity to represent Uganda on the global stage.

Beyond pageantry, Daka has built a career spanning fashion, entrepreneurship and advocacy. She holds a degree in Business Administration and has spent the past decade modelling across Africa and the Middle East.
She is also the founder of Figures The Brand, a sustainable activewear company, and hosts a podcast dedicated to conversations around emotional well-being, self-development and mental health.
During the competition, she also earned the Face of Miss Universe Uganda and Multimedia Queen subsidiary awards, further cementing her position as one of the standout contestants.

Uganda Prepares for a Historic Miss Universe Debut
Daka’s victory comes at a significant moment for Uganda’s pageant industry. This year’s competition marked the country’s first official participation in the Miss Universe organisation, opening the door for Ugandan women to compete on one of the most recognised international beauty platforms.
Nineteen-year-old Kimberly Jael Aremo Acio, representing Kole District, finished as the first runner-up while also winning the People’s Choice and Wellness Queen awards. Bridget Katungi claimed the second runner-up position, with Sureya Umeima and Jemimah Mpoza completing the top five finalists.
As Miss Universe Uganda 2026, Daka will now begin preparations for the international pageant in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where contestants from around the world will compete for the prestigious Miss Universe crown.
Her reign is expected to focus on promoting Ugandan creativity while amplifying conversations around mental health, an issue she has consistently championed throughout her career.
