Nigerian fintech startup Nearpays has made history by becoming the first African company to win the United Nations’ AI for Good Innovation Factory Grand Finale. The startup’s AI-powered SoftPOS technology, which enables merchants to accept contactless payments using Android smartphones, outperformed more than 500 startups from around the world, highlighting Africa’s growing influence in global technology innovation.
